Notable Atheist: Rafael Nadal

Almost every bad thing that happens in life comes from some form of radicalism, it only unleashes problems that should be fixed. You are entitled to have your likings, sympathies, beliefs, but you should always respect the opinions of others, never insult them. The same happens with religion. You can be religious, or atheist, christian, muslim… whatever, but I think the atrocities that people committed in the name of religion are too much. For me, religion is the main cause of mortality in history.

As a fan of Rafa since ’05, a member of Vamosbrigade and an atheist, I was so surprised to hear in Rafa own words how he felt about religion. I was aware that Uncle Toni was mostly an atheist but thought that Rafa may have some kind of god-belief. Glad to have him apart of the “club”. Though, he might not think he is, lol.

  2. Great post, very interesting. I had no idea Rafa thought so deeply and with so much insight. Very enlightening. Also, thanks for following my blog, I’m more glad I stumbled upon yours – you have thoughtful and great content!

Thanks for the positive feedback. You have some good reads on your space too.

Yeah, regarding Rafa, I think people have him down as this stereotypical sportsman/athlete, but he has actually spoken about his views on religion a few times.

      • Thanks, I just started a few days ago so I’m still fresh and new to this whole experience but so far it has been very enjoyable; I can finally write to my heart’s content.

And spoken with much intellect too. I definitely agree with you on that. Here in Australia, every time he wins a match at the Open he gets interviewed in English and he is made to look very awkward and caricature-like. However, I have deliberately watched interviews with him speaking in Spanish with subtitles and, like you say, he is much more eloquent. I will definitely have to check him out some more. It is another valuable lessons on presuppositions and preconceptions that many people can learn.

Being called a sexist is not the worst I have been called. People are way too sensitives these days; they want to make everything about themselves.

And yes, the comments on the previous post was quite priceless from Mr. loveislam.

      You are welcome! *wink*

I need to find some smoking hot famous atheist babe to satisfy the boys soon.

Hot atheist babes?! I’m all for it! But be careful…I read a blog somewhere listing ‘Sexy (female) Scientists’ and the (male) writer was then attacked and branded a ‘sexist’, called a host of foul names, and basically blamed for everything evil in the world…..speaking of which….lol…. I’m now going to read the comments on your previous post….I took a peek but going back to read them now….
